Scott Bedgood (prev. Head of Content at Wizehire)

Open to Remote Opportunities

View Scott’s Professional Portfolio

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Scott: Over the course of a decade, I have worked for numerous startups and companies in a wide range of industries (everything from sports collectibles to IT staffing), but in every situation I was brought in to either create or overhaul the existing content situation. I quickly assess needs, develop processes to streamline content creation, build and train a high-performing content team, and create strategies to meet company goals.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Scott: Cross-team collaboration is key. When I was promoted to Head of Content I began opening lines of communication across teams and found that there were amazing contributions coming from the sales, customer service, partnerships, and product teams. They'd felt overlooked and under appreciated by content, but once they were able to contribute they became content's biggest champions.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role?

Scott: My dream company is my own! I am starting my own business as a fractional content marketer, so I am looking for any companies who need help transforming their content marketing.

My ideal clients would already have a small (even one person) content team that would benefit from my level of expertise. I would implement proven processes, develop strategies, and then train that current team on how to execute on these plans so they'll be set up for long-term success. This would mean more organic growth, more conversions, and more revenue for the client without blowing up their budget for a big full-time hire or a content agency.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Scott: Almost everything in marketing is learned on the job and through consistent studying of trends and listening to experts. I have a journalism degree and was often intimidated by marketing jargon and the knowledge more seasoned marketers seemed to just innately have. But I have since learned that the best marketers are the ones who are constantly learning and studying and that it's never too late to dive in and learn.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Natalie: I am a dedicated and ambitious marketing and brand management professional looking for my next dream role with a brand or company I have a genuine passion toward. I want to feel excited by my role to get up for work every day, and in return, clock out feeling appreciated and valued by my workplace due to the excellent work that excitement creates.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Natalie: Following along with what I’m looking for in my next role, my previous role taught me how absolutely essential it is to be in a workplace where you’re supported, with a team that is willing to work with you when needed. Earlier this year, a close friend passed away unexpectedly, and my previous role showed me that I do not have to suffer in silence. I was able to work from home when getting out the door felt difficult emotionally, and even outside of that situation, I always felt like my work and contributions to the team were valued, which in turn made me want to only work harder despite how I was feeling mentally.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Natalie: I want to add highly valuable growth to a brand with my work. I believe in myself and what I’m capable of as a marketing creative, and so I feel confident in asking brand to do the same. I have been so fortunate to have many very interesting and unique professional experiences that have helped me build a strong, diverse skill set. I would be delighted to find a way to make that skill set work for a brand I love in whatever way I can, and learn more in the process. Some dream companies of mine are Liquid Death, Olipop, Athletic Greens, ClassPass/MindBody, and some San Diego-based brands that I find myself spreading awareness of/avidly consuming in my own personal life.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Natalie: Communicate with your team when you are feeling some type of way about something. If your work is getting extremely valuable results for the company and you are not seeing that value appreciated or reflected in the compensation you are receiving, speak up about it. If you are going through a difficult time, speak up about it! A good team will work with you to find a solution, and it is always better to let others know where you’re at so that no surprises can arise, and ensure you ask them to do the same with you.

Ideally, anything in the health, wellness, or fitness space would be preferred but I am open to any industry that challenges me while also allowing me to show my strengths and thrive!

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Cayley: I wish I knew that being yourself and staying true to your creative abilities with take your far! While that can sound cliche, I think it's important, especially early in your career to know that there is a space for everyone and you will eventually find the right one for you. It's easy to get caught up in comparing yourself and your work to others, especially in the marketing industry, but when you believe deeply in the work you are creating and delivering, it makes it easy to feel confident and remain grounded. (p.s. everyone is still trying to figure it all out too, so don't be to hard on yourself!).

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Dmitri: I've got over 10 years of Influencer Marketing experience, ranging from managing campaign ops at agencies for clients such as Coca-Cola, Wendy's, and Walmart to building multiple successful D2C performance Influencer programs from scratch at Ruggable, Quince, and OneSkin. My main strength is working cross functionally so the programs I manage positively impact the entire Marketing org- from increasing social awareness and followers, to licensed assets for acquisition and entire co-branded licensed design collections with celebrity partners in support of product and ops.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Dmitri: If the Influencer program results and KPI's are in a silo, and you're starting from scratch in 2024...you will fail. Influencer needs to be integrated into the broader Marketing goals as a spearheading function to increase awareness and drive bottom-funnel results

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Dmitri: After building multiple programs as the sole or first Influencer-specific hire, I'm looking to join an existing Marketing team that is looking to scale efficiently and ramp up operations to drive long term value in partnerships. This would ideally mean mid-late stage growth D2C brands that have an established presence but looking to take things to the next level through partnerships.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Dmitri: The best partnerships formed and the most valuable deals done are through relationship building and taking extra time to learn where your mutual goals are. After years of outreach and negotiation, it's easy to fall into a "what's your budget" type of conversation immediately- but success is making sure the money isn't dictating the partnership first and foremost.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Cassidy: As a Digital Creative, I've learned the vital importance of merging creativity with data-driven insights. Initially focusing solely on creativity without leveraging analytics hindered the effectiveness of my campaigns. Incorporating data early on would have empowered me to create more targeted and impactful content from the start of my career.

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Melissa: In the past 3 years, I’ve cultivated a deep understanding of the digital space with a background in both social media and influencer marketing. My goal has been to consistently learn about each role and have a well rounded perspective on marketing in this field. With experience with paid ads, content creation, organic growth and analytics, and influencer campaigns, I’ve been able to strategize and develop campaigns from a well rounded approach.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Melissa: Communication and relationship building are the keys to success in this industry. As an influencer marketer or talent manager, you are the bridge between a client/brand and influencer. It is essential to ensure that the influencer can represent your client’s product in a way that not only aligns with the brand’s image but also resonates with their audience. Being able to effectively communicate this to both ends as well as building strong relationships with your talent is crucial.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Melissa: I am looking for a role within influencer marketing but am open to advertising or digital marketing positions. Some dream companies include: EF Ultimate Break, Beis and companies within the travel industry.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Melissa: We are hired to be experts, it is okay to give pushback to clients if we believe there is a better way to approach a campaign or differing idea that may provide better results.

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Jessica: I have naturally gravitated towards sports; as a spectator, as a former NCAA athlete, and as a marketing professional. In my most recent role at an elite golf academy, I led the partnership management strategy ensuring all marketing deliverables were being met. In also leading the social media strategy, I crafted my talents in showcasing all facets of the athlete experience through video production and other creative approaches.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Jessica: There is so much value in fostering genuine relationships in the workplace.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Jessica: I most enjoy having boots on ground in the sports industry; strategizing content ideas, executing on those initiatives, and being where all the action is happening. (I like to think that it's the next best thing to actually playing!) A dream company would be to work for the USTA, PGA Tour, or any company closely affiliated with the professional sports space.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Jessica: Say yes to every opportunity! Even if it's not exactly what you envisioned for yourself at that time. There is so much value in experiencing different industries and roles. This will not only open doors, but it will have such a massive impact on your growth and understanding of where your skills and interests lie.

Madelyn Temkin (prev. Social, Influencer, and Content Lead at Heyday, a CPG startup including brands like ZitSticka and Boka)

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Madelyn: I am a brand marketing leader with over 8 years of professional experience specializing in social media, community building, influencers, and content creation/production. I'm passionate about brand storytelling and particularly thrive in the beauty, wellness, jewelry, technology, and entertainment spaces with a background at brands like ZitSticka, Boka, Zillow, and Lionsgate.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Madelyn: My most recent role was with a startup where I wore a million hats and learned how to prioritize the work that is most impactful to the business. I also learned a TON about working efficiently - from negotiating the best prices with vendors to creating strategies that scale to spending my budget in a way that best maximizes ROI.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Madelyn: I’m interested in social media and community leadership roles at companies who understand the power of brand storytelling. Some dream companies include Goop, Merit, Canopy, and Arrae.

I am also interested in brands within larger portfolio companies like L’Oreal, P&G, or Unilever, or tech companies like Pinterest and Airbnb. A big career goal of mine is to advise founders on brand strategies, which I’d love to do through work at a venture capital or private equity firm.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Madelyn: Speak up! I wish I was more confident in expressing opinions earlier on in my career. When I started out, I assumed that the key to demonstrating my value was effectively and efficiently completing tasks assigned to me. While that is, of course, important, I’ve realized that being vocal in proposing and advocating for my own ideas adds the most value to companies.

MHH: Tell us briefly about your career thus far!

Aliza: I'm a former morning show producer turned stay-at-home mom. While home, I did continuing education to stay relevant in the media world and learn about public relations. Almost 5 years after quitting, I got back into the working world as a contributing writer and eventually shifted my skills to help build brands through strategic communications and PR.

MHH: In your most recent role, what was a valuable lesson you learned that you’ll take with you into your next role?

Aliza: The past decade as a stay-at-home mom turned publicist has taught me patience, empathy and flexibility. I recognize not everything is as it appears and it's imperative to take a step back and treat those you work with (or care for at home) with respect and understanding. You'll get better results by doing so.

MHH: What are you looking for in a future role? Are there any dream companies you’d like to work for?

Aliza: As the founder and CEO of Freed Up communications, a strategic public relations firm, I'm looking to work with industry-disrupting brands on a mission to implement change. While I don't have a specific dream company in mind, I am passionate about working with brands in the parenting/kids and health communications spaces.

MHH: What's something you know now that you wish you knew earlier on in your career?

Aliza: Honestly, I wish I knew earlier on that everyone has seasons of insecurity and self-doubt. It's ok to change your mind and to try something new. And taking a career pause doesn't indicate your value or worth. For years, I thought I was the only one who felt this way but the more I talk about it and share stories, the more I realize this is the norm.
